About the HC Hawk Run 5K--GLOW RUN

This is an evening glow run on a college campus, so the atmosphere leans heavily on lights, costumes, and team spirit rather than clock times. Prizes go to the glowiest outfit, the spookiest costume, and the most colorful gear, alongside the standard age-group awards. Proceeds support student scholarships through the campus foundation.

Registration opens in the hours before the first wave goes off. Packet pickup is available before race day, on race day itself, or by mail for an added fee. There is also an option to skip the pickup entirely, which puts more money toward the scholarship fund.

Common Questions About the HC Hawk Run 5K--GLOW RUN

Will I finish last at the HC Hawk Run 5K--GLOW RUN?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 40:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:15:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the HC Hawk Run 5K--GLOW RUN a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (189 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the HC Hawk Run 5K--GLOW RUN?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 19:28 while the median finisher took 40:27. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the HC Hawk Run 5K--GLOW RUN?

Join a local run club. Run Tampa, Run the Heights, Run Club for MFs That Don't Run and others in Tampa welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
