About the DRC's 3 x 2 Relay

This is a trail relay at Norbuck Park, run on a dirt loop through the park. Teams of three take turns, each person completing the loop once before handing a baton to the next runner. The course is not stroller or pet friendly, which keeps the trail clear. The theme is neon and retro, so expect some costumes.

Baton pickup happens race morning before the start, and arriving early is worth it to avoid a wait. Parking is available both at Norbuck and at nearby Flag Pole Hill. The Dallas Running Club is all-volunteer, and the race runs on that energy.

Common Questions About the DRC's 3 x 2 Relay

Will I finish last at the DRC's 3 x 2 Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 6 Miles field finished slower than 51:50, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:32:34, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the DRC's 3 x 2 Relay a good first 6 Miles?

It is a small race (66 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 6 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the DRC's 3 x 2 Relay?

The 6 Miles winner ran 37:37 while the median finisher took 51:50. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.

Where can I train for the DRC's 3 x 2 Relay?

Join a local run club. 214 Run Club, Dallas Running Club, Run It Up Dallas and others in Dallas welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
