About the Chicago Beer Mile Championships
The format is simple: drink a beer, run a lap around a standard track, and repeat until done. Participants can walk, jog, or run the laps. For those skipping the alcohol, there are chocolate milk and non-alcoholic beer versions of the same format. Elite heats run later in the evening, with prize money on the line for the top finishers in those sections.
Races are staggered across the evening, with the elite heats closing things out. Each heat has a small number of entries, so the track stays manageable. All competitors must be over the legal drinking age to participate in the alcoholic heats.
