About the Bright Star Community Outreach 5K Run/Walk
The course starts in Mandrake Park and heads out along the lakefront, so the scenery opens up quickly. It is a point that draws both runners pushing their pace and people out for a purposeful walk, all moving through the same stretch of Chicago's shoreline.
This is a fundraiser for Bright Star Community Outreach, which serves under-resourced families in Bronzeville and nearby neighborhoods through food distribution and community programming. The race has that character to it: people show up knowing what the morning is for, not just what their finishing time might be.
