About the Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k

The course runs along the Northside Beltline Trail, a paved urban path that gives the route a city feel without putting you on open roads. It is a straightforward out-and-back or loop depending on conditions, and the trail surface is smooth enough for strollers and dogs, both of which are welcome.

The race is organized by Back on My Feet, a program that works with people experiencing homelessness through running and employment support. The entry structure lets you participate solo, as a team, or through a company, and the morning draws people across a wide range of paces.

Common Questions About the Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k

Will I finish last at the Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:48, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k a good first 5K?

A field of 385 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k?

The 5K winner ran 17:56 while the median finisher took 34:48. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Back on My Feet Meaningful Miles 5k?

Join a local run club. Atlanta Run Club, Atlanta Track Club, Chattahoochee Road Runners and others in Atlanta welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
