The course circles Bachman Lake on a paved trail, with planes from nearby Love Field passing overhead throughout. It is mostly flat, with a small elevation change where the route crosses a bridge. The start and finish are near a historic lakeside pavilion, and ducks and geese tend to share the park with runners.

Packet pickup runs the evening before the race at a local running store on Mockingbird Lane. On race morning, parking is free at the main lot near check-in, with overflow available across the way. Attendants are on hand to direct you. After the race, there is music, vendor booths, and kids activities that carry on well into the morning.
