Arizona Running Groups

Arizona’s running community runs year-round, they just shift the clock to beat the heat. Early mornings in Phoenix mean 5 a.m. starts during the summer, and the cooler months bring some of the best outdoor running conditions in the country. Head north to Flagstaff and the altitude and trails make it a training destination for elite runners from around the world.

Phoenix has a packed calendar. Phoenix Run Club offers free runs on Monday, Thursday, and most weekends with pace groups for everyone. Valley Runners meets Thursday evenings at Fate Brewing Company for 3 to 4 mile runs followed by post-run socializing.

BLK Arizona Run Club builds community through running and wellness events open to all levels and backgrounds. Arizona Road Racers has been promoting health and wellbeing through running across the metro for decades.

Tucson’s scene is anchored by the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting fitness through running and walking events across Southern Arizona. Meet Me at Maynards hosts a Thursday evening run that passes iconic murals and the rattlesnake bridge before ending at a bar for after-run drinks.

Run Tucson has been a coaching and community hub in the region for over 28 years. Tucson alone has over 20 organized running groups covering everything from trail running to women’s crews to LGBTQ+ clubs.

Flagstaff brings a different energy with the Northern Arizona Trail Runners Association, Team Run Flagstaff, and the Flagstaff Ultrarunning Club all taking advantage of the high-altitude trails and pine forests.

Whether you’re running desert canal paths or mountain single track, Arizona has a running group that fits.
