About the Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon - Tucson

The race is held at Danny Lopez Park and is dedicated to military veterans, with active duty members and veterans running at reduced or no cost. The courses are out-and-back routes on terrain that leans flat without being perfectly level. Self-serve water stations are spaced along the way, so runners who want to move fast may prefer to carry their own hydration.

Packet pickup is on race morning, with registration opening in the hour before the gun. No separate trip the day before is needed.

Common Questions About the Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon - Tucson

Will I finish last at the Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon - Tucson?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:33:15, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon - Tucson a good first 5K?

There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon - Tucson?

The 5K winner ran 24:17 while the median finisher took 36:27. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
