About This Club

Long Beach Frontrunners is an LGBTQ+ oriented running and walking club that meets three times a week on the Long Beach shoreline bluff. They run and walk, which matters - this is not a club where walkers are quietly tolerated; walking is built into what they do. At $25 a year, the barrier to joining is low.

  • Post-run social events
  • Monthly brunch
  • Happy hours
  • Potlucks
  • Annual banquet

Who It Suits

This club is built around the LGBTQ+ community, and that identity is central to what the club is, not a side note. If you want a beach path routine with a social life attached and you are comfortable in that space, this fits well. If you need faster paces or trail variety, the 3-6 mile shoreline format may feel limited over time.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Every run starts at the bluff where Redondo Ave meets Ocean Blvd, and you stay on the beach path along the shoreline - flat, scenic, and easy to navigate. Tuesday and Thursday evenings go 3-6 miles, Saturday mornings are a bit shorter at 3-5 miles. Note that Tuesday and Thursday start times shift to 6:00 pm in winter, so double-check before you head out on a dark November evening.

Post-runMonthly post-run brunch every second Saturday at Belmont Brewing Company after Saturday morning walk/run; other socials include happy hours, potlucks, progressive dinner, and annual awards banquet

Your First Run

Show up at the bluff at Redondo Ave and Ocean Blvd at the right time for whichever day you pick - Saturday morning at 9:00 am is a low-pressure entry point for a lot of people.

Coming alone is completely normal here; the post-run social calendar (monthly brunch on the second Saturday at Belmont Brewing Company, happy hours, potlucks) is explicitly part of the club's rhythm, which means people are actually used to talking to each other. They do not specify how groups split by pace, so if that matters to you, reach out to them directly before your first run.
