About This Club

Black Run is an Atlanta-based running meetup organized for Black professionals, bringing people together on Saturday mornings at parks and trails around the city. They describe themselves as welcoming all fitness levels, including walkers and complete beginners. The group organizes through Meetup and rotates across several Atlanta-area locations, so each week can look a little different.

Who It Suits

This group is organized specifically as a space for Black professionals, so that identity is central to what they're building, not incidental to it. If you're a beginner, a walker, or someone who hasn't run in a while, the format, about 3 miles at a flexible pace, is genuinely manageable. If you need a structured training program with defined pace groups and mileage builds, this probably isn't your primary training outlet.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Runs go for about 3 miles over 30 to 40 minutes, starting at 8:10 a.m., and pace is flexible enough that no one gets left behind. The ground varies by location, but you can expect urban park paths and multi-use trails at spots like Cochran Shoals, Freedom Park, and Riverside Park in Roswell.

Walkers are genuinely welcome, not just tolerated. After the run, some events include a stroll through the Freedom Park farmers market, which makes for a natural, low-pressure way to keep talking to people.

Your First Run

Before you show up, read and agree to their waiver, and if you're bringing someone, they need to do the same. Locations rotate, so check their Instagram at @officialblackrun or the Meetup page before your first Saturday so you know exactly where to go that week.

When you arrive, the run doesn't kick off until 8:10 a.m., so you have a few minutes to get your bearings and say hello. If you're worried about pace or fitness, they say no one gets left behind, and walkers are a normal part of the group, not an exception.
