About This Club

Apopka Run Club meets four times a week in Downtown Apopka for timed out-and-back runs, so pace isn't something you have to negotiate, you run your own and let the clock mark it. It's free with no membership required, which keeps the barrier to showing up low. If you're local to Apopka and want a regular run without needing a race resume, this is built for that.

  • Timed out-and-backs
  • Conservation pledge with Polar Plunge
  • Community-focused
  • Inclusive pacing
  • Multiple weekly runs
  • Social events

Who It Suits

This suits Apopka locals, beginners, and people who want a low-pressure run with a social payoff on Tuesdays. It's not built for elite racers chasing splits or for trail runners, since the courses are paved and flat with some rolling hills. It's also not the group if you're looking to bring a dog or a stroller along.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Runs are timed out-and-backs on paved, mostly flat ground with some rolling stretches, typically 3 to 6 miles depending on the day. Because each run is timed rather than pace-grouped, everyone heads out and back on their own clock, walkers included, so there's no group splitting up or leaving anyone behind. Tuesdays tend to wind down with trivia, beer, and pizza at Three Odd Guys or Apopka Pizza.

Your First Run

Head to Fifth Street Plaza at 40-54 E. 5th Street in Apopka, and check the club's Facebook group first since meeting times shift between morning and evening across the four weekly days. Since it's a timed out-and-back format, there's no pace group to keep pace with, you go your own distance and turn around on your own clock, and walking or taking breaks along the way is fine.

It's free and there's no membership to join in advance, so there's nothing to arrange ahead of time, just show up. The usual worry about holding people up doesn't really apply here, since nobody's waiting for you to turn around.
