About the White Continent 50k, Marathon & Half-Marathon
The course runs across Antarctic land on King George Island, between research bases from different countries. The terrain is what you would expect at the bottom of the world: raw, uneven, and exposed to whatever the weather decides to do. Penguins and seals are a genuine possibility along the route, not a figure of speech.
The trip crosses to Antarctica by air rather than by boat, which matters if you have ever spent a rough day at sea. After the race, excursions to a nearby penguin colony and a Russian research station with an Orthodox church have been available, depending on conditions that day.
