About the Welcome Home 5K

The Welcome Home 5K runs through Mohawk Park in Tulsa, organized by Eagle OPS Foundation to raise funds for veteran suicide prevention and peer support programs. Part of the course is designated as an Honor Mile recognizing fallen service members and Gold Star Families. Adaptive bikes and hand cycles are welcome, so the field tends to be broad.

Parking is in the zoo lot adjacent to the park. Packet pickup runs the couple of evenings before the race at the Eagle OPS headquarters in Owasso, with a race-morning option at the registration tent inside Mohawk Park.

Common Questions About the Welcome Home 5K

Will I finish last at the Welcome Home 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 44:55, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:20:32, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Welcome Home 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 566 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Welcome Home 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:01 while the median finisher took 44:55. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
