About the Trail Madness

Trail Madness takes place at Turkey Mountain in Tulsa, with several distance options all starting and finishing at the lower parking lot. The courses pull from popular trails on the mountain alongside some less-traveled ones, and the route changes each year, so returning runners will see something different. Expect rooty, natural singletrack rather than a groomed surface.

After the race, there is a post-race party with food, drinks, and music at the finish area. If you are planning to run multiple trail races with this organizer across the year, a bundle option brings a discount on combined registration.

Common Questions About the Trail Madness

Will I finish last at the Trail Madness?

Almost certainly not. Half the 8K field finished slower than 58:10, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:55:38, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Trail Madness a good first 8K?

It is a small race (122 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 8K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Trail Madness?

The 8K winner ran 35:59 while the median finisher took 58:10. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
