About the St. Paddy's Day Run Tacoma

The longer courses head out from downtown Tacoma along the waterfront, picking up the Ruston Way Path toward Point Ruston and Dune Peninsula Park. There are rolling hills along the way, and the route crosses the Wilson Way Bridge before turning back, giving you a good look over the water and the surrounding area. The shorter distances follow the same waterfront corridor but turn around sooner.

The race starts and finishes downtown, so parking and post-race options tend to be whatever the neighborhood offers. The St. Paddy's Day theme carries through the morning, and the event draws a range of paces across its distance options.

Common Questions About the St. Paddy's Day Run Tacoma

Will I finish last at the St. Paddy's Day Run Tacoma?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 38:22, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:42:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the St. Paddy's Day Run Tacoma a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 676 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the St. Paddy's Day Run Tacoma?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:20 while the median finisher took 38:22. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
