About the Tacoma City Turkey Trot

The course runs through the Proctor District, a walkable neighborhood in Tacoma with tree-lined streets and local shops. The route is short enough that kids join in on a separate smaller loop, and the whole thing starts outside the Fleet Feet store. Thanksgiving costumes are encouraged, and plenty of people show up dressed for it.

Packet pickup and the start are both at the Fleet Feet location in the Proctor District. The morning tends to draw families, and there is pumpkin pie waiting at the finish.

Common Questions About the Tacoma City Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Tacoma City Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 35:55, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:23:11, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Tacoma City Turkey Trot a good first race?

With 2,140 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Tacoma City Turkey Trot?

The race winner ran 14:58 while the median finisher took 35:55. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
