About the Sonder & Friends Oktoberfest 5K

The race starts and finishes at Sonder Brewing, so the post-race scene is built right into the venue. Several local breweries pour German beers throughout the day, there is festive food, live music, and kids activities, making the festival the main event as much as the run itself. Costume prizes go to the best individual and team Oktoberfest outfits.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at Sonder Brewing, with a second window on race morning before the start. Dogs on leash and strollers are both welcome out on the course. After the main race, a short kids fun dash goes off on the same course and crosses the same finish line.

Common Questions About the Sonder & Friends Oktoberfest 5K

Will I finish last at the Sonder & Friends Oktoberfest 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 38:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:59:36, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Sonder & Friends Oktoberfest 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 573 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Sonder & Friends Oktoberfest 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:07 while the median finisher took 38:36. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
