About the Santa Dash 5K & 1 Mile Walk

The course runs through Jaycee Park, a flat, open park setting that works well for both runners and walkers. The race has a holiday costume angle, with Santa gear encouraged, so the start line tends to look more like a parade than a typical weekend race. Proceeds go to Riley's Army, which supports families of children with pediatric cancer.

Packet pickup runs on the evenings before race day at Jaycee Park itself, so there is no scramble to find a separate location. The start area doubles as the pickup spot, which keeps things straightforward if you want to see the course before the morning.

Common Questions About the Santa Dash 5K & 1 Mile Walk

Will I finish last at the Santa Dash 5K & 1 Mile Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 32:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 49:22, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Santa Dash 5K & 1 Mile Walk a good first 5K?

It is a small race (117 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Santa Dash 5K & 1 Mile Walk?

The 5K winner ran 16:36 while the median finisher took 32:59. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
