About the Sandy Claus 5k and Mistletoe Fun Run
The course runs along the Jekyll Island shore after dark, past holiday light installations set up around the island. It is a coastal Christmas race in the most literal sense: sand and salt air instead of snow, with the lights reflecting off the water as you go. Costumes are encouraged, and the field tends to show up in Santa hats and reindeer antlers.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a spot near the highway entrance to the island, with race-morning pickup available at the start area as a backup. The start and finish are at the corner of Pier Road and Hopkins Avenue. Holiday music plays at the finish, and there are coastal treats on hand after you cross.
