About the Salute to Veterans 5K/10K/Half Marathon - Shreveport

The race runs out of Walker Place Park on out-and-back courses for each distance, so you retrace the same stretch of road to finish where you started. The terrain sits somewhere between flat and rolling, closer to flat, and the surroundings are park-side throughout. It is dedicated to veterans, with active duty and veteran participants running at reduced or no cost, and the atmosphere reflects that purpose.

Packet pickup opens on race morning before the gun goes off. Water stations are spaced out along the course, though runners who do not want to slow down may want to carry their own hydration. Post-race awards recognize overall podium finishers, multiple masters categories, and age group placers across all distances.
