The course starts at a boat launch at the foot of a bridge over the river, so there is open sky and water at the beginning. The race benefits a local girls troop, and the entry fees go directly toward their service projects and events. Strollers and wagons are welcome on the course at a walking pace.
Packet pickup the evening before is at the troop's charter church, with race-morning pickup available at the start site as well.
