About the Sacramento Pride Run

The course starts in Old Sacramento on Front Street, heads south on a paved street, passes under a major mall, then loops back north along a bike trail. It is almost entirely flat, with a water station at the turnaround point and another at the finish. Corrals are sorted by pace, staggered a bit apart, which keeps the start from getting bottlenecked.

Paid parking garages sit within easy walking distance of the start, so driving is straightforward. After finishing, there are awards, music, raffle prizes, vendors, and snacks on-site. A pub two blocks from the finish line hosts a post-race social, and the Sacramento Pride Festival kicks off nearby at the Capitol Mall shortly after.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a decent-sized field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Sacramento Pride Run

Will I finish last at the Sacramento Pride Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:16, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:27:23, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Sacramento Pride Run a good first 5K?

A field of 468 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Sacramento Pride Run?

The 5K winner ran 17:50 while the median finisher took 36:16. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Sacramento Pride Run?

Join a local run club. Sacramento Run Club, 9RUN6, Arete Women's Running Club and others in Sacramento welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
