The course at the Cookeville Cross Country Facility moves through a few different surfaces, starting on paved roads before swinging around a track and then out onto the grass cross country course used by the local high school team. That shift from pavement to turf gives the route a different feel than a standard road race, and the open grass section is where the terrain gets honest.
