About the Runnin' To The Rig

The course winds through the campus of a historic high school, passing buildings and ending near a famous football tunnel. It has the feel of a nostalgia trip more than a road race, taking you through parts of campus you might otherwise only see from the outside. A guided legacy tour runs alongside the main event for those who want more history.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at the stadium parking lot, with a race-morning window as well. After finishing, the crowd tends to linger on the field for photos.

Common Questions About the Runnin' To The Rig

Will I finish last at the Runnin' To The Rig?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 52:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Runnin' To The Rig a good first 5K?

It is a small race (110 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Runnin' To The Rig?

The 5K winner ran 20:34 while the median finisher took 30:11. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
