The course runs along the Rockaway Beach shoreline, with the ocean beside you for the whole route. It is a road course, flat and close to the water, and the sea breeze is real enough to notice. The area is quieter than most race venues in the city, so the atmosphere is open rather than packed. Aid stations are placed generously across the route.
