About the Raccoon Run 5K
The course runs off-road through Portland, scenic and away from traffic in the way that trail races tend to be. The race director is known for bad jokes before and after, and the whole thing leans toward plain and purposeful: plain water at the stops, no bands, no gimmicks. Dogs are welcome at the start as long as they stay toward the back.
Packet pickup is at Fleet Feet Maine Running on Marginal Way, a short drive from the start at Baxter Boulevard. Maps are provided to help you get between the two locations. The race benefits the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, so there is a fitting logic to bringing your dog.
