About the Kick Out Mesothelioma 5-Miler & 2.5 Mile Walk
The five-miler runs point-to-point along the Eastern Promenade, finishing near the water on Marginal Way. The walk starts and finishes at the Bayside Trail entrance, so the two events share the finish area but take different routes to get there. The race honors a pipefitter, Navy veteran, and city councilor who died after a mesothelioma diagnosis, and it raises money for mesothelioma research.
Packet pickup is at Marathon Sports on Marginal Way the morning of the race, and the start for the run is a short walk from there. The finish is close to Fleet Feet Maine Running. A post-race gathering with drink specials happens at Fore Play Sports Pub on Fore Street, and the Facebook page has a carpool forum for runners and walkers coming from the same direction.
