The course runs through Joaquin Miller Park, a redwood forest in the Oakland hills. The trail winds under tall trees with enough elevation and rooty terrain to make the longer distance feel like a real effort, while the shorter loop stays manageable for people moving at any pace. It is a school fundraiser, so the crowd skews toward families connected to Oakland Tech.
