About the May the Course be with You 5k
This is a space-themed road race in Seattle where costumes are a genuine part of the day, not just background decoration. Plenty of runners show up in full galactic gear, and the atmosphere reflects that. The course itself is a standard road loop, flat enough that walkers and runners share it comfortably without one group feeling out of place.
Free race photos are taken on the course, and there are finish-line goodies waiting when you cross. If you want to dress up but worry about feeling overdressed, you will not.
