About the LECOM 5K and 1-Mile Wellness Walk

The race starts and finishes at the LECOM Medical Fitness & Wellness Center on Peach Street. Runners can choose to be timed or skip the bib entirely and just run for themselves. The course is road-based, and both a shorter walk distance and a full 5K are on offer. Water and bananas are available before and after the race.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the Wellness Center, alongside a race expo with local vendors, free gait assessments from LECOM clinicians, and a shake-out run led by local running shops and clubs. Race-morning pickup is also available, closing out before the start.

Common Questions About the LECOM 5K and 1-Mile Wellness Walk

Will I finish last at the LECOM 5K and 1-Mile Wellness Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 28:52, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:23, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the LECOM 5K and 1-Mile Wellness Walk a good first 5K?

A field of 217 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the LECOM 5K and 1-Mile Wellness Walk?

The 5K winner ran 15:48 while the median finisher took 28:52. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
