Indianapolis, IN
This is a Halloween-morning race where costumes and flannel are part of the atmosphere. It is put on by a school athletic program, so the crowd skews toward families and kids alongside runners of all paces. The route is short enough to suit people who are there more for the occasion than for a hard effort.
