The course runs on a cross country trail behind an elementary school, a stretch of natural ground tucked into a residential part of Indianapolis that most runners would never find on their own. The start is timed to the last light of the day, so early runners go out under a dim sky and the back of the pack finishes in the dark. Bring a headlamp.
