About the Brew Ho Ho Ho 5K

The course runs along the Monon Trail through the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis. It is flat the whole way, and the trail surface makes for easy, quick footing. The race leans into the holiday theme hard, so expect Santa hats, ugly sweaters, and reindeer antlers in every direction. BBQ and beer are waiting at the finish, along with music.

Packet pickup is race morning only, at Half Liter BBQ on Winthrop Avenue, which also serves as the post-race gathering spot. Parking at the restaurant is limited, so carpooling helps. Metered street parking is available around the Broad Ripple neighborhood if the lot is full. The race runs in rain or snow, postponing only for lightning.

Common Questions About the Brew Ho Ho Ho 5K

Will I finish last at the Brew Ho Ho Ho 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 36:44, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:11:52, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Brew Ho Ho Ho 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (165 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Brew Ho Ho Ho 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:23 while the median finisher took 36:44. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
