About the Hope Rescued's 5K For Hope

The course runs through Cherokee Park, starting at the Baringer Hill Overlook Pavilion. The park has rolling terrain with tree cover, so expect some gentle grade changes rather than a completely flat road race. It is a route where the surroundings do the work, and the proceeds go toward a Louisville nonprofit fighting homelessness and human trafficking.

Race-morning pickup is the only option, so plan to arrive a bit early rather than collecting your bib the night before.

Common Questions About the Hope Rescued's 5K For Hope

Will I finish last at the Hope Rescued's 5K For Hope?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 42:15, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Hope Rescued's 5K For Hope a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (52 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Hope Rescued's 5K For Hope?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:09 while the median finisher took 42:15. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
