About the Half Donkey (Half/10k/5k)

The course runs out and back along the Mount Vernon Trail beside the Potomac, starting and finishing at Jones Point Park beneath the bridge that carries traffic overhead. The pavement is smooth, the route stays flat the whole way, and the river stays close throughout. There are no road crossings and no traffic, so the run itself is pretty clean and uninterrupted.

Packet pickup opens race morning at the park, which keeps things simple. Parking at Jones Point fills fast, especially since the St. Patrick's Day Parade takes over Old Town that same afternoon, so carpooling or arriving by bike makes life easier. After you finish, it is a short walk north into Old Town to catch the parade, and live tracking lets your crew time their walk down to meet you.
