About the Ghosts and Goblins 5K/10K

The course runs through City Park, looping the grounds in a Halloween-themed morning race. The park setting keeps things on paved paths with no real elevation to speak of, and the surroundings are open enough that you can see other runners ahead and behind most of the way around.

A vendor village sets up near the finish, and there is food and drink out after you cross. The start is at City Park, which has street parking along the surrounding roads and is reachable by bus if you want to skip the hunt for a spot.

Common Questions About the Ghosts and Goblins 5K/10K

Will I finish last at the Ghosts and Goblins 5K/10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 37:07, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:51:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Ghosts and Goblins 5K/10K a good first 5K?

With 1,113 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Ghosts and Goblins 5K/10K?

The 5K winner ran 15:52 while the median finisher took 37:07. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Ghosts and Goblins 5K/10K?

Join a local run club. Rocky Mountain Road Runners, Colorado Harriers, Revolution Running and others in Denver welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
