About the Frozen Freighter 5K and 10K
The course follows the riverfront, heading out along Portage Avenue toward the St. Mary's River with views of freighters moving through the Soo Locks. The timing is deliberate: the race marks the opening of the shipping season, so vessels are actively passing while you run. The start and finish are in front of the Soo Locks Boat Tours building, next to the Museum Ship Valley Camp.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at the start area, with race-morning pickup available as well. Parking is at the Museum Ship lot, Pullar Stadium, or a large blue pole barn nearby; do not park at the start area itself. Pasties from a local shop are on sale in the lobby after the race, along with beverages.
