About the First Responders Suicide Prevention 5K

This race is tied to National Law Enforcement Suicide Awareness Day and raises money for counseling and mental health training for first responders and their families. The course is USATF certified, which also makes it a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Before the gun goes off, there is a group warm-up on site, and the morning has a mental health fair and live entertainment after the run.

Race morning pickup happens at a registration table on site, and you will need a government-issued photo ID to check in. Parking is available at the race site. Walkers are welcome and are asked to keep right so runners can pass. Timed bibs are optional, so you can choose whether you want an official time or not.

Common Questions About the First Responders Suicide Prevention 5K

Will I finish last at the First Responders Suicide Prevention 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:17, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:58, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the First Responders Suicide Prevention 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (28 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the First Responders Suicide Prevention 5K?

The 5K winner ran 21:34 while the median finisher took 35:17. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
