About the Fight for Families 5k
The Fight for Families 5k takes place at Westminster Park in Rock Hill, on a trail course. The race is tied to a cause: raising awareness around foster care and adoption. Before the start, there are interactive stations along the path that are meant to give runners a sense of what children in the child welfare system experience. The course has a couple of water stations along the way.
The morning starts with time to walk through those pre-race stations before the gun goes off. Timing is handled by an outside company, and results come back to runners by text. An awards ceremony follows the finish, with prizes handed out by age and gender.
