About the Detective Mike Doty Memorial Run
This race honors a York County sheriff's detective who was killed in the line of duty. The proceeds go to a local substance abuse nonprofit, which connects directly to the work he did in drug enforcement and as the county's law enforcement Narcan program coordinator. Running it carries a bit of weight that most local races do not.
There is not much on record about the course itself, the start area, or race-morning logistics. What is clear is the purpose behind it, and that tends to draw people who want their entry fee to mean something beyond a finishing time.
