About the East Bay Front Runners Pride Run and Walk
The course circles Lake Merritt in downtown Oakland, starting and finishing at the Adams Point picnic area near the sailboat house in Lakeside Park. The path around the lake is paved and mostly flat, with the water on one side and the park on the other. Distance options cover both a shorter loop and a longer one, so runners and walkers tend to be out on the course together.
The start area at Adams Point has open lawn space around it, which gives the morning a loose, unhurried feel before the gun goes off. The race is tied to National Coming Out Day and organized by a local LGBTQ+ running club, so the crowd at the finish skews celebratory. Several local nonprofits benefit from the proceeds.
