About the DU Crimson Classic 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk

The course runs on Carnegie Green Lawn on the University of Denver campus, a couple of loops around a grassy route. The afternoon start means warmth is possible, and the organizers flag that fall weather here can swing either way, so layers are worth considering. Water stations are at the start and along the course.

Registration and bib pickup happen on-site before the start, so no separate pre-race errand is needed. Music, games, and guided stretching fill the hour before the gun. Snacks are out, vendors are set up, and the whole thing has the feel of a campus block party that happens to end with a race.

Common Questions About the DU Crimson Classic 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk

Will I finish last at the DU Crimson Classic 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 29:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the DU Crimson Classic 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk a good first 5K?

A field of 440 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the DU Crimson Classic 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk?

The 5K winner ran 14:33 while the median finisher took 29:04. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the DU Crimson Classic 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk?

Join a local run club. Rocky Mountain Road Runners, Colorado Harriers, Revolution Running and others in Denver welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
