About the Denver Mother's Day 5K

The course runs through City Park, which gives it tree-lined paths and open green space for most of the route. It is flat enough that strollers are a common sight, and pets are welcome too, so the start line has a different energy than most road races. Walkers start toward the back, and the field sorts itself out quickly.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a Fleet Feet location in Denver, which keeps race-morning lines shorter. If you skip that, bib pickup opens well before the start at the course. Parking options include a school lot nearby and street parking south of the park, with a reminder to avoid the zoo and museum lots.

Finish-Time Stats

Common Questions About the Denver Mother's Day 5K

Will I finish last at the Denver Mother's Day 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:47, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:22:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Denver Mother's Day 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 611 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Denver Mother's Day 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:07 while the median finisher took 38:47. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Denver Mother's Day 5K?

Join a local run club. Rocky Mountain Road Runners, Colorado Harriers, Revolution Running and others in Denver welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
