About the CASA Superhero 5K and Kids 1 Mile

The course runs along the James River on Percival's Island Trail, a natural surface path through a wooded island park. It is flat enough that families treat it as a genuine outing rather than a test, and the river is visible for much of the route. The kids' distance starts later in the morning, giving the main field time to clear before the younger runners take over.

There is a water stop near the midpoint of the main course and a food tent at the finish. Kids who complete their distance get a snack bag there. Parking details come out the week before the race, and the organizers have previously run a free shuttle from downtown lots, so watch your email for that update closer to race day.
