About the Abe's Amble
The course winds through the Illinois State Fair grounds, then out past Lincoln Park and Oak Ridge Cemetery before looping back. That mix of fairgrounds pavement and park roads gives it a little variety, and the cemetery stretch is quieter than you might expect. The organizers call it challenging, which is fair.
Packet pickup is the day before at a pavilion in Lincoln Park, where sponsors set up and there is a pre-race photo spot. Race-morning pickup is available at the fairgrounds as a backup. Water and bananas are at the finish, along with other refreshments, and awards follow once the field is in.
