About the Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 - Stop 13 - Springfield 6.6K
The course runs through Springfield's historic district, where preserved streets and original Route 66 pavement pass by a national site honoring Abraham Lincoln. It is a road race, flat through a neighborhood that feels genuinely old, and the distance is chosen deliberately to reflect the long road ALS families travel.
This race is one stop in a statewide series built around a solo runner covering the Illinois stretch of Route 66 to raise awareness for ALS. At some point during the morning, participants join that runner for a shared segment together. There is a post-run gathering with others from the series community.
