Am I going to be the slowest person at a Chicago 10K?
Two races here have published finish-time results. At Stan's Donut Race, the median finisher crossed at 38:59 across a field of 2,427. At Dim Sum & Then Some, the median was 36:22 across a field of 1,367. Both fields are big enough that a wide range of paces shows up, and in crowds that size, no pace stands out as slow.
What does a Chicago 10K typically cost, and will the price go up if I wait?
Entry fees run from $12.99 at the low end to $55 at the top, with a typical fee of $30. Three races already have a price increase scheduled, so if one is on your list, registering sooner is the practical move.
Will I get a shirt?
33 of the 34 races say they give a shirt. Every race that has published any giveaway details at all - all 34 - confirms something, so this is an unusually transparent set of events on that front. None of the 34 mentions a finisher medal.
When should I be looking for a race if I have a specific training block?
Fall (September through November) has the most races with 14, making it the easiest season to find a date that fits. Winter (December through February) is busier than you might expect with 11, while spring is the tightest window with just 1 race in the entire March-to-May stretch. August is the single busiest month with 5 races.
Is there a running club in Chicago I can train with before race day?
