About This Club

Urban Run Club SATX is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit social run club that meets twice a week at parks and public spaces around San Antonio. They explicitly welcome walkers, joggers, and runners, and structure their outings so different paces and distances actually coexist rather than just being listed on paper.

  • Post-run snacks and hydration
  • Outdoor massages at some events
  • Community events like Turkey Trot

Who It Suits

If you are just getting back into movement, testing whether running is for you, or want a low-pressure reason to get outside twice a week, this club is built with you in mind. If you are training hard for a race and need structured speed work or long runs beyond 4 miles, this group's format probably will not cover that on its own.

What a Run With Them Is Like

Distances split into two natural ranges: walkers typically cover 1-2 miles, while joggers and runners tend to go 3-4 miles, all on paved park trails and urban outdoor spaces.

You move at your own pace for your preferred distance, so there is no single group you have to keep up with. Locations rotate across spots like Lady Bird Johnson Park, Frost Plaza at The Rock at La Cantera, Make Ready Market, and Martin Luther King Park, among others.

Your First Run

Before you show up, check their Sweat Pals page or social media, because the exact time and location change week to week. Once you are there, the structure is relaxed enough that arriving solo is genuinely fine, since the mix of walkers and runners means you are not the odd one out for going slow or stopping early.

There is no membership sign-up required and no cost unless you want to donate. Saturday meetups at Lady Bird Johnson Park include post-run snacks, hydration, and sometimes outdoor massages, which gives you a natural reason to hang around after.
