About This Club

Pasadena Pacers is a free, multi-day-a-week running club based at the Rose Bowl that runs roads, surrounding hills, and Griffith Park trails. They offer structured training programs aimed at half marathon, marathon, and ultra distances, so there is a path forward here whether you are running your first mile or building toward something big. No membership fee, no membership required.

Who It Suits

This club works well if you want more than a casual jog - the structured training programs mean you are building toward something, and the all-paces setup means you will not be the odd one out as a beginner or a walker. If you are looking for a fast, competitive group with no structure and no newcomers, this is probably not your scene.

What a Run With Them Is Like

The standard loop is the 4-mile road circuit around the Rose Bowl, but Saturday long runs can stretch to 10 miles or more and mix in trail options. Runners select training groups suited to their own pace, so you are not stuck at the back of one fast pack. Sunday runs shift entirely to Griffith Park trails, and times for those are posted on their Facebook page, so check before you drive out.

Your First Run

Register before you show up - that is the one thing to do before your first visit. Head to the south end of Parking Lot I near the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, 360 N. Arroyo Blvd., and look for the picnic tables.

When you arrive, introduce yourself to someone and ask to be connected with a coach who can point you toward the right training group. Also check their calendar that week because Rose Bowl events occasionally push the meeting to Garfield Park in South Pasadena, and you do not want to show up to an empty lot.
