About the Zanesville City Half Marathon

The course starts and finishes in downtown Zanesville, winding through the city itself, so the surroundings are urban and historic rather than trail or park. The elevation change is real but manageable, spread across the route rather than concentrated in one brutal climb. Both the half marathon and the shorter option share that same downtown starting point.

Packet pickup the evening before is held at a downtown venue on Main Street. Race morning pickup is available at a separate location on Shinnick Street, though the organizers are clear that arriving early and picking up the night before makes for a calmer morning. Post-race food and drinks are at the finish line.

Common Questions About the Zanesville City Half Marathon

Will I finish last at the Zanesville City Half Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:17:39, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:53:31, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Zanesville City Half Marathon a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (150 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Zanesville City Half Marathon?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:34:35 while the median finisher took 2:17:39. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
